Description

Far South Border North (FSBN) is a City of San Diego-led regional collaboration that supports artists and cultural practitioners in service to the health and well-being of San Diego and Imperial County communities. Launched with a major grant from the California Arts Council, with additional support from the Prebys Foundation, the pilot program cultivates social awareness and community connectivity through creative messaging campaigns. It also provides local artists working in San Diego’s most underserved communities with livable wage jobs that support their careers.

This presentation will provide an overview of FSBN and share stories of how participating artists, through their creative projects, bring people together to address some of San Diego’s most intractable problems. Participants will better understand how the arts intersect with areas of need in San Diego communities and learn how to engage artists to do similar work within their communities and organizations.
