Description

During this presentation, staff from SANDAG, Alta Planning + Design, and the San Diego Childhood Obesity Initiative (COI) will discuss our shared goals of 1) gaining community feedback about where people live, work, play, and learn and 2) influencing the Vision Zero Action Plan (VZAP). We will explain how each partner leveraged their strengths to reach these goals. In this session, we will share the supports COI provided to community members to gather their observations in the form of walk audits. We will also discuss how the partnership between SANDAG and COI is unique and how the walk audits became a product and input of the VZAP. The VZAP will inform the prioritization of regional infrastructure projects, initiatives, and improvements, as well as make recommendations to cities about where they may want to prioritize their capital projects. Collaborations like this are a perfect example of how the collective impact model can amplify the work of multi-sector partnerships.
