Roberta is the first official Enterprise-wide Tribal Liaison for the County of San Diego, housed in the Office of Sustainability and Environmental Justice under the Land Use and Environment Group Executive Office. This position provides a vital connection between the County and our regional tribes and works to establish meaningful representative community engagement. Roberta has more than six years of tribal government experience working with her tribe, Cahuilla, and dozens of tribes in California. As Tribal Council Secretary for Cahuilla Band of Indians Tribal Government, she cultivated linkages between tribal, local, state, and federal organizations to safeguard the health, comfort, and security of all Cahuilla Tribal members. She also served Cahuilla as a negotiator for electric easements, gaming compact, water litigation, and various agreements to support and protect the Tribe’s interests. Roberta has a bachelor’s degree from Fort Lewis College (Colorado) in Political Science, with a focus in Indigenous Studies. Since 2017, Roberta has owned and operated Graffiti Coffee Shop for the last five years in Riverside County in Aguanga, California.
