This panel will provide background of tribes in the San Diego region, an introduction to the new and first official Enterprise-wide Tribal Liaison for the County of San Diego, and exemplify tribal relations through case studies from Tribal Executives in the region who focus on Environmental preservation. Our co-speakers will highlight some of their efforts in renewable energy projects, water quality and sustainability, ecological agriculture, pollution management, and inter-governmental relationships. Representatives from four different tribal nations, Santa Ysabel Band of Kumeyaay/Diegueno, Pala Band of Mission Indians, La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians, and Viejas Band of Kumeyaay will provide environmental education from an Indigenous context.
