Dr. Whyte received her undergraduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh and her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to complete her pediatric dental residency at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and stayed in the New York City metropolitan area practicing in a private practice until moving to San Diego in 2013 where she began working at a community health center. She then went on to complete her Master of Public Health degree at A.T. Still University with a dental emphasis.
Dr. Whyte is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is an advisory board member for the Anderson Center for Oral Health. She is also on faculty with the NYU Langone Health Pediatric Dental Residency Program affiliated with San Ysidro Health and on the medical staff with Rady Children’s Hospital.
More recently, Dr. Whyte completed a two-year Champion Provider Fellowship with UCSF where she worked on initiatives addressing dental disease and obesity, mainly through programs aimed at decreasing sugar sweetened beverages. She has authored numerous publications including an article on COVID-19 and its impact on dental utilization in pediatric emergency department and urgent care settings and strategies around substance abuse disorder and harm reduction strategies in a dental setting.
