Motivated by her grandparents and experience volunteering in skilled nursing facilities, upon graduation from Harvard University Lindsey went on to work as a Health Advocacy Fellow at the Medicare Rights Center. At UCSF Medical School, Lindsey quadrupled the membership of its Geriatrics Interest Group, co-founded a website to help clinicians deliver person-centered care to older adults, and completed clinical training geared towards underserved older adults. After her Internal Medicine Residency at Scripps and Geriatrics Fellowship at University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Lindsey became a Primary Care Geriatrician at the Program of All Inclusive Care of the Elderly (PACE) and lead an interprofessional team to support medically complex older adults to age in place at home. To ensure that more older adults can experience person-centered evidence-based models of care like PACE, Lindsey came back to UCSD in 2017 to study how quality improvement (QI) science can be used to transform healthcare delivery for older adults. In 2018, Lindsey was awarded an NIH ACTRI TL-1 Postdoctoral Fellowship focused on Implementation of Age-Friendly Health Systems (AFHS) and became the inaugural fellow of the West Health-UCSD Geriatrics Quality Improvement Science Fellowship of which she is now Co-Director.  In 2020, Lindsey joined the faculty of UCSD’s Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Palliative Care, became UCSD’s first Medical Director of Geriatrics Quality Improvement, led UCSD to achieve the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s highest level of AFHS recognition in multiple UCSD sites, and launched UCSD’s first Virtual Group Visits for Advance Care Planning program. Lindsey has also played an active role in Geriatrics QI education both locally and nationally as a Co-Leader of the American College of Surgeons Geriatrics Surgery Verification Education Task Force, Teaching Faculty for the national Geriatric Emergency Department Collaboration, and Director of the QI curriculum for UCSD Geriatrics and Psychiatry Fellows. In November of 2022, Lindsey became the first Chief Geriatric Officer of San Diego County’s Health and Human Services Agency, where she will work with Aging and Independence Services to achieve its Aging Roadmap vision for Elderhood.
