Jessica Peter has held multiple roles at 211 San Diego since beginning her tenure in 2009. Evolving from serving the CEO as executive assistant to building philanthropic partnerships to deploying communications strategies, Jessica now serves as the Senior Director of External Affairs. In this role, Jessica works closely with the Chief of Staff to advance strategic priorities, anticipate issues, respond to opportunities, identify project needs, build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and manage deadlines related to public affairs, communications, and philanthropy. Jessica manages the execution of the External Affairs Playbook and Organizational Communications Plan, both of which involve a timeline of activities that strategically lead to positive outcomes across all departments and the organization as a whole including increased awareness and understanding of the depth of 211’s services, new partnerships, a robust resource database, information dissemination that accurately represents what the public needs and wants, and active and early engagement in policy discussions. Prior to joining 211 San Diego, Jessica held positions with the San Diego Library Foundation, Volunteer San Diego, SAY San Diego, and Oxfam America. Jessica holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Scripps College and a certificate in project management from San Diego State University.
