Description

We are beginning to realize the critical role affordable housing has in reducing the negative impacts of climate change while providing stable, resilient homes for families. We cannot adequately tackle the crises of climate change and housing affordability in silos, and that is why Casa Familiar is in the process of developing the Avanzando San Ysidro Community Land Trust (CLT) and La Semilla Climate Resiliency Pilot Programs. The CLT project is an innovative housing initiative that serves as an anti-displacement strategy by removing land from the real estate market, developing affordable rental housing units by leveraging Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), and eventually converting to ownership. La Semilla Climate Resiliency Pilot Program is being developed to complement our CLT project. La Semilla is a multi-purpose space that will serve as a neighborhood-scale launchpad for environmental justice and climate resiliency programs and initiatives.
