Speaker Bio
Jason Avery is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but has been a resident of Birmingham for over 30 years. He has worked at UAB in clinical trial research for 26 years where he serves as the Senior Director of the CREST -2 trial for stroke prevention. He was recently named to the 23rd class of the Blaze Leadership Academy. He also works as an Urban Main Facilitator for Rev Birmingham where he serves as the lead of design and place-making.
In his spare time, he is developing his own business Cottage Noir which searches for the intersection of food, drink, design and fashion where he develops curated collaborations and products. Part of his passion involves coordination of public art projects in the community. His largest project to date has been leading the coordination of award winning “The Way”, an outdoor mural gallery representing 13 female artists from all over the country.
He also serves as President of the Woodlawn Neighborhood Association, President of the Woodlawn Community and is a member of Birmingham’s Citizen’s Advisory Board. In addition, he serves as a board member for Woodlawn United, Mason Music, Grace Place, Bare Hands and the Airport Advisory Council.
