Description

When building mixed-income communities through home ownership, community quarterback organizations must support legacy and new residents, including ensuring an anti-displacement strategy. This workshop will delve into the effectiveness and inherent challenges of such efforts. Facilitated by Sara Toering of SJT Partners, two Purpose Built Network Members – Jim Wehner of FCS (Atlanta) and Travis Williams of LIFT JAX (Jacksonville) – will share details about their organization’s programs and financing mechanisms. FCS has a rotational capital fund that has been used to acquire, stabilize, and sell over 100 homes to existing residents and new neighbors in less than 15 years. LIFT JAX recently launched a home repair program for legacy residents and developed a program to recruit Black professionals to buy homes in the neighborhood.
