Patricia Negrón Meléndez is a senior architecture student at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) from Dorado, Puerto Rico. Her academic and professional journey is grounded in a deep commitment to equity, storytelling, and community-centered design, shaped by her Caribbean heritage and a desire to use architecture as a tool for social impact. At the national level, Patricia serves as the NOMA National Student Representative and the AIAS–NOMA Liaison, working to strengthen collaboration between the National Organization of Minority Architects and the American Institute of Architecture Students. She is also the AIAS Vice President-Elect, where she supports national initiatives focused on advocacy, leadership development, and student engagement. In addition, she is a member of NOMA’s Elevate Committee, contributing to efforts that expand access, mentorship, and opportunity for students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Locally at SCAD, Patricia is the Co-President of SCAD NOMAS and the Secretary of SCAD AIAS, leading programming, partnerships, and professional development initiatives that connect students to the broader design community. Through her leadership and design work, she seeks to amplify underrepresented voices, center lived experience in the built environment, and help shape a more just and inclusive future for the architecture profession.
