Chris Miller is CEO and a founding board member of the National Coalition for Community Capital (NC3). Among NC3’s goals are to empower ordinary citizens and strengthen local economies through community investment and ownership.
Chris has worked in economic development for over 20 years, securing millions of dollars in grants and private investments. He led the creation of Michigan’s investment crowdfunding legislation in 2013 which became a national model. The legislation also led to the creation of Michigan’s Public Spaces Community Places program, the first of its kind in the nation which has created unique public spaces in over 300 Michigan communities.
He is an EDA Economic Innovation Fellow though the Michigan State University EDA Center for Regional Economic Innovation, and in 2022 created NC3’s Community Capital Accelerator, which builds community investment funds. In 2023 Chris secured an EDA/IEDC Economic Recovery Corps fellow who created a community capital curriculum for ESOs.
