With more than 30 years of experience in advocacy for exploited men, women and children, Marisa Ugarte built and pioneered successful coalitions to address the issue of trafficking within Southern California and Mexico. In her role as Executive Director at the Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition, she coordinates services for trafficking victims, provides technical assistance to anti-trafficking organizations in the United States and abroad and is an internationally recognized speaker. She is also founder of the emergency response team that assists law enforcement by providing in-person victim advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning, provision of basic needs and linkage to services.
