Discover how community organizations and the City of San Diego joined forces to elevate and uphold the economic vibrancy of communities that for many years had been ignored. The federal Promise Zone designation–now nine years in–ignited collaboration that has resulted in cross-sector prioritization of six Promise Zone goals, resulting in increased opportunities and investments in the areas of housing affordability, healthy communities, and jobs and education. This session will highlight successes from the partnership, including the annual Youth-Led Career Expo, the Partner Growth Fund sponsored by California Coast Credit Union, business walks, and more. Presenters will share practical insights on building collaboratives rooted in community needs and how those efforts can evolve beyond the federal designation. With one year remaining in the federal designation, the Promise Zone is stronger than ever, but there is still work to do. Join us to explore the history, current impact, and future direction of the San Diego Promise Zone and leave with ideas to spark community-led collaboration in your community.
