Isela is the Project Manager for the Fe en Acción study. She graduated with a Master’s of Public Health in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science and a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from San Diego State University in 2024. Isela’s master’s thesis examined experiences of obstetric violence among asylum-seeking women in Tijuana during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She has a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a Political Science Concentration and a Minor in International Migration from the University of California, San Diego. Isela has international experience with community-based research projects since 2011 and is passionate about improving the overall health of Latine migrant and vulnerable populations, especially women and children.
