Dr. Felicia Singleton serves as Executive Director of Whole Child & Community Design at the San Diego County Office of Education where she supports educational leaders in the development of child centered systems development, design, implementation, and sustainability of transformative programming. Dr. Singleton has a deep commitment to cultivating systems where all learners are thriving. Her practice is guided by the traditional greeting passed between adults of the Maasai tribe, “and how are the children?” acknowledging the high value all Maasai, not just parents, place on generational well-being. The greeting’s traditional response is “the children are well” serves as an inspiring reminder that it is the responsibility of all adults to co-create conditions where learning, joy and belonging co-exist in our schools, communities, and greater society. A society where adults from the private and public sectors collectively care for the whole child, and centers their well-being, education, and safety. A society where the response is authentically, all the children are well. Dr. Singleton holds a Doctor of Education from University of California San Diego, and her research is anchored at the intersection of ecological systems theory, restorative justice, and collective impact.
