Dr. Jong Won Min is a Professor in the School of Social Work at San Diego State University (SDSU), where he has served as the Director of the College of Health and Human Services’ School of Social Work since 2018. In his roles as a faculty member and director, he strives to inspire students to pursue fulfilling social work careers and supports faculty in conducting research that addresses health disparities. He completed his BA degree in Social Work in the Department of Social Work at Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, and his MSW degree in the Faculty of Social Work at University of Calgary, Calgary, Canada. Dr. Min earned his Ph.D. degree in Social Welfare at the University of California, Los Angeles.

His scholarly and research interests focus on 1) socioeconomic and racial/ethnic disparities in health, 2) workforce development for care and services for individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and their family caregivers, 3) longitudinal changes in cognitive function over time among older adults, and 4) evaluation research on programs/services for vulnerable at-risk older adults. Dr. Min is currently co-PI on the HRSA-funded Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) at the SDSU. He was selected as one of 10 national scholars for the John A. Hartford Foundation Social Work Geriatric Faculty Scholars Program (2002-2004). His research has appeared in the International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, International Journal of Aging and Human Development, Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, Global Public Health, Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health, etc.

He is a founding member of the Live Well Center for Innovation & Leadership’s (LWCIL) Steering Committee and serves as the co-chair of LWCIL’s People Success Subcommittee.
