Jim has over 30 years of experience in the field of substance use and misuse prevention. The last 24 years have been with the San Diego County Office of Education. Jim is currently the Coordinator of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Prevention. Jim assists school districts in the development of comprehensive drug prevention plans that include prevention, intervention, and treatment. Jim successfully manages several Tobacco Use Prevention Education grants throughout the county that ensure students receive the support they need to avoid or reduce tobacco use, including vaping. Jim is a member of all San Diego County prevention initiatives, including the Policy Panel on Underage Drinking, the Marijuana Prevention Initiative, and the San Diego County Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Task Force. Each initiative provides valuable resources to schools and communities throughout the county.
