Jeff Oxendine has over 35 years of experience as a health executive, educator, and consultant. He is the Founder and CEO of Health Career Connection (HCC), a nonprofit that has supported over 5,000 students from underrepresented, first-generation college and low-income backgrounds to become health leaders and professionals. Jeff has also served for 16 years at UC Berkeley School of Public Health, where he mentored students as a faculty member and Associate Dean. He continues to serve as Director of Health Workforce and Diversity in the Center for Healthcare Organizational Innovation Research.
Jeff is the author of the book, You Don’t Have to Be a Doctor: Discover, Achieve and Enjoy Your Authentic Health Career, which encourages individuals to explore diverse health careers. As a leader in health workforce and diversity initiatives, Jeff co-directed the California Health Professions Consortium and the California Future Health Workforce Commission, helping to shape actionable statewide strategies for health workforce development for California. He is now engaged in efforts to advance Commission recommendations.
Jeff has held senior executive roles in the Bay Area and Boston hospitals and lectured at the Harvard School of Public Health for five years. He earned his MBA and MPH from UC Berkeley and his bachelor's in health management from California State University, Chico.
