Christine E. Jones is a cultural strategist, curator, and producer with significant experience working in government organizations, nonprofits, galleries, and consultancies. As the Chief of Civic Art Strategies, she oversees the programmatic direction, cultural development, and strategic initiative. She cultivates and engages directly on projects that cross-programs and sectors, establishes frameworks for grantmaking, and arts and culture delivery, and advises about the arts industry, creative economy, and public realm. Most recently, Jones expanded and created funding programs such as Far South/Border North and Impact, developed public art initiatives like SD Practice and Park Social, among others, and led teams in the development of new innovative reports like Creative Economy in the San Diego as well as public policies and plans to advance an equitable and inclusive creative economy and arts ecosystem that directly benefit San Diegans and is co-leading the City’s Creative City cultural planning process that will result in San Diego’s first-ever cultural plan. Jones is an accomplished arts administrator, developing and delivering major public art commissions, exhibitions, and strategies for multiple public agencies, organizations, and private developers, and currently serves on the San Diego-Tijuana World Design Capital Design Council, supporting design activations throughout the Cali-Baja megaregion. She is an Accredited Senior Appraiser recognized by the American Society of Appraisers, specializing in ancient and contemporary Asian art. She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Art History and Anthropology from the University of Kansas and a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University.
