Description

Playwrights Project showcases its partnership with the San Diego County District Attorney's Office to present "Remember That Time," a play by Mabelle Reynoso that centers on a young girl grappling with her father's incarceration through the question, "Can we be a family?" Inspired by our work with justice-involved youth and adults, the production toured schools, community centers, and prisons, highlighting the power of communication, creativity, and play for justice-impacted families. "Remember That Time" also dispelled negative stereotypes about incarceration fostering healthy, safe and thriving communities.

Audiences will be invited to hear their own "quickwrite" performed by two professional actors, witnessing firsthand the therapeutic benefits of using theatre to promote healthy conversations around difficult topics. Audiences will see how reentry programs and community engagement reinforce LiveWell San Diego's vision of a vibrant community where everyone can thrive.
