Dr. Bowers is the founding Director of Behavioral and Mental Health Services at Children’s Primary Care Medical Group (CPCMG) which provides health care at 28 offices across San Diego and Riverside counties and serves the needs of ~280,000 children and adolescents. In addition, she is the Lead Pediatrician of the Primary Care Mental Health Integration program as part of the Transforming Mental Health Initiative at Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego (RCHSD).
Dr. Bowers graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, and received her medical degree from the University of Washington. While there, she performed early research on the efficacy of telemedicine to serve rural populations. She completed her internship and residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA, with additional training at Boston Medical Center, Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, and is a Board Certified Pediatrician. Dr. Bowers has served on a number of committees and boards within CPCMG, RCHSD and CPMG.
Dr. Bowers and her husband are the proud parents of five children. She has taken leadership roles in their schools and synagogues.
Dr. Bowers has been an invited speaker to a number of multidisciplinary conferences addressing the delivery of behavioral and mental health care. In addition, she regularly interacts with California’s Pediatric communities. She is committed to bringing mental health care into the primary care home, and is a passionate advocate for improved and timely access to quality pediatric behavioral and mental health care.
