Edith Sanchez Cruz joined the San Diego County Sheriff's Department in October 2021 and serves as the Community Inclusion Director for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. In this role, Edith bridges the gap between deputies and faith-based communities, youth, local community-based organizations, immigrant and refugee community members, social justice advocates, the LGBTQ+ community, and persons with disabilities. She manages department-wide initiatives that focus on serving our diverse communities and creates intentional engagement opportunities with the focus of building relationships to strengthen our efforts in public safety.

Prior to this role, Edith worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County (BBBS), which began back in 2008 and ascended to the role of Community Outreach Senior Manager having had the benefit of prior experience serving in several key programmatic roles within the agency. Building partnerships and being an ambassador/spokesperson for the organization in the last 13 ½ years supported the BBBS mission and increased brand awareness throughout the county.

Edith holds a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State San Marcos and is currently pursuing her Master's in Public Administration with emphasis on Organizational Leadership from National University.
