Description

This session will focus on the critical needs of veterans. San Diego County is home to over 250,000 veterans, one of the nation's largest concentrations. Hear from veterans themselves as they address their unique culture and needs as well as the specific challenges they face. Discover ways to help connect veterans with the resources and services they need to help them thrive. The issue of homelessness among our veteran community will be specifically addressed. Nearly 1,000 veterans are currently experiencing homelessness in our County. We will share progress towards the Leave No Veteran Homeless initiative which involves a collaborative workgroup of nearly 40 regional stakeholders, including the County of San Diego, city jurisdictions, service providers, and housing authorities. Hear the current status of this crucial effort, the mission-critical steps required to end veteran homelessness and find out how everyone can get involved.

Learning Objective:
1. Understand the specific needs of the veteran community
2. Describe the Leave No Veteran Homeless Initiative
