In this session participants will be introduced to the Community School Strategy and how Local Educational Agencies across San Diego County and the State of California are embarking on the implementation of the strategy. A community school is a “whole child” school improvement strategy where the district and school work closely with families and community partners to align needs with resources and opportunities. Across San Diego County we are eager to engage in this strategy as a key component of thinking about how we partner with one another differently to support children and families in our communities. During our time together, participants will hear from practitioners in the field and how their work has begun to transform the communities they serve.
Learning Objective:
1. Learn about the Community School Strategy and the California framework
2. Engage in conversations about how their current roles connect to supporting this whole child initiative
3. Hear from practitioners in the field who are implementing this strategy across San Diego County
