Speaker Bio
After earning my BS and MA in Business and Communications with an emphasis in Education at Grand Canyon University, I entered the Education and Non-profit world to explore my passion for helping youth and the community. Currently, I work as a Youth Garden Program manager for Second Chance. I'm focused on teaching job development skills through the lens of urban agriculture and helping youth become stewards of change within their community. In this role, I facilitate classes focused on developing hard and soft job development skills, food justice, nutrition, and community building where the youth can prepare for success while in a structured supportive environment. I have worked with youth in prior after-school programs including extensive STEAM programs with international students. I have a background with various non-profits around San Diego focusing on mental health and addiction recovery. My knowledge of gardening coupled with my love for mother earth and the community make this program the perfect merge of education, non-profit and nature all while leading youth towards self-sufficiency. I am passionate about teaching youth the skills necessary to live healthy, happy sustainable lives.
