Melissa Van Grol, LCSW, is a school social worker with the Escondido Union High School District (EUHSD), a position she has held since 2012. Currently at San Pasqual High School, Melissa supports her comprehensive school site by co-running the Wellness Center. There she is a direct practice clinician providing services to teens and families including individual counseling, case management, and crisis intervention. She coordinates with various contracted mental health providers on campus and supervises an intern from Boston University. She is trained in Behavioral Analysis, Trauma-Informed Practices for Schools, Positive Behavior Intervention, and Restorative Practices. Melissa has over 14 years of experience working with youth mental health and special needs. She has concentrated experience utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis for in-home behavior therapy for youth with Special Needs. Prior to her current role, she spent eight years supporting the EUHSD Special Education Department. She helped to structure and organize Individualized Education Plans (IEP) based counseling services, while supporting and managing the district’s Intensive Outpatient Program for youth with mental health needs, on three comprehensive sites. Melissa earned a Master’s of Social Work from Fresno State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University. She holds a California Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Social Work, Child Welfare and Attendance, and School Counseling. In addition, she is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and provides supervision to associate clinical social workers working towards licensure.
