Manuel-Luis “Manny” Medina, a paramedic and American Heart Association CPR Instructor, is a Paramedic for Cardiac Imaging and the Leadership Development Chair for the Western States Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee. Manny teaches AHA CPR courses in English and Spanish. Additionally, he volunteers his time supporting local community events like the Heart & Stroke Walks and Hands Only CPR programs in Southern California. His prior positions included Director of the Emergency Medical Services Program at National University and EMS & Trauma Program Director for the New Mexico Regional EMS office, a partnership, with the New Mexico Department of Health EMS Bureau. Manny hails from New Mexico where he grew up in a bilingual household. Immediately after High School, he took an EMT course, which he says “totally changed his life”. This led him to change his college discipline from Nursing to pursue a degree in Paramedicine. As a paramedic, Manny has performed CPR multiple times both as a healthcare provider and civilian bystander on a variety of people. His passion for CPR has been fueled by his experience and says “I’ve really seen it work. As an educator I teach a variety of courses, CPR is my favorite because I have personally seen it work and really makes a difference!”
