Justine Kozo is a Chief, Regional Community Coordinator for the North Central Region in the Office of Equitable Communities, Department of Homeless Solutions and Equitable Communities, Health and Human Services Agency, County of San Diego. Ms. Kozo engages with North Central-based organizations to address priorities and opportunities to improve equity and access in the region. Activities include facilitating leadership team meetings, attending community events, and fostering connections to County departments to address community needs. Previously, Ms. Kozo served as the County of San Diego Office of Border Health Chief for Public Health Services for ten years where she led cross-border projects to improve health outcomes in the California-Baja California border region. Central to these activities has been her passion for health equity, community engagement, culturally responsive communication practices, and working with diverse communities. Ms. Kozo has developed and led many initiatives to serve immigrant and refugee populations and increase access to resources. Prior to working for the County of San Diego, Ms. Kozo worked at UC San Diego and San Diego State University for 10 years in various public health roles including managing community-based collaborative research studies addressing health disparities. Ms. Kozo has a Master of Public Health degree from San Diego State University where she is a current Instructor in the Global Campus Health Promotion and Behavioral Science MPH program.
