In this workshop we will learn about Targeted Universalism (TU) and how it is related to equity and belonging. TU understands that different groups of people will need and benefit from different strategies--one strategy is not going to help everyone. We will learn how TU is applied on the ground in educational policy circles, administration, classrooms, school districts, and--ultimately--our students, their communities, and the places they live. This framework can provide a vision for improved outcomes for everyone. At the same time, the framework provides clear direction on strategies that are required for different groups to reach the collective vision. Understanding the basics of targeted universalism is straightforward but applying it can be more difficult.
