Anton Orlich is the managing investment director for CalPERS Global Private Equity. His responsibilities include overseeing the asset class’s strategies, programs, policies, and 40-person team. Additionally, Anton has been serving as interim managing investment director for Global Private Debt and sits on the Total Fund Management Committee, Investment Underwriting Committee, and Operations & Administration Committee, which together manage the CalPERS Total Fund.
Anton began serving on the Institutional Limited Partner Association (ILPA) Board of Directors in June 2025.
Prior to rejoining CalPERS in 2022, Anton was the head of alternative investments at Kaiser Permanente, the head of private equity at a family office, a portfolio manager at CalPERS from 2013 to 2016, the head of equities for the Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS), a vice president at Neuberger Berman, and a consultant at McKinsey & Co.
Anton holds a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in economics from Columbia College in New York and a PhD in political science from Yale University. He is also a Harry S. Truman Scholar, a Kauffman Fellow, and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Charterholder. Anton is a U.S. Navy veteran and served in Afghanistan.
